I may be open to the fact if it were done in the right way. Build new schools for example.Appy has the same tax rate as P.V.,Wise,Coeburn , the same rate for all the county. At least that was how my current tax bill is that is due in october. I also hope that when this thing is ever decided again that whoever is on the board or super of schools dont plan decisions on board members gone on vacation. as with Mrs robinetts case this last go around.All that I will ask everyone is if it was truly your school, how would you feel?
LOL I have to agree to a point I think the DC SB and BOS voted the funding for consolidation about 3.5 years ago and the last I heard officially ground would be broken in 2006 and while there is still time for that It is not going to happen this year. Unofficially I have heard that DC is still waiting on Fed money to be released supposedly Katrina took a big chunk of the money that they would have had a shot at.
I have no clue when/if DC will ever get a "New" HS but one thing is for sure Ervintons days are numbered the county will keep slashing programs until there are no AP classes and study chosies are limited further than they are now.
If anyone out there has any new info fill us in LOL I may have to go to the Doc for a checkup to get any new Info LOL

Okay- you are right(that is an apology, if you will accept it). I shouldn't call names. And there has been a valid reason all along, NO VOICE. Sorta like taxes with out a say in things. It gets the same results. If anyone thinks patching up 3 old schools with the same undersized classrooms is a good way to spend 54 million dollars, I must be ready for the funny farm. I might be anyway, but not on this one issue , one this one point.
Consolidation is not the way to go. It doesn't save money and it doesn't help the kids. Anyone you ask down in Lee County will tell you it was a bad move on their part. They first said the high schools where in such bad shape that they needed replaced with a new high school. They built the new high school and then made middle schools out of the old high schools. The only thing it did for Lee County that was good was that Thomas Walker got a lot of new students that didn't want to go to Lee High. Just like J.I. Burton would gain a lot of new students from Appalachia.
Were thinkgs better for St Charles and the really slamm schools that were the main reason for consoladation down there (sometimes people forget that Lee is more than Penagton and Jonesville)
